This Old House ... August

It's been two years and three months since we first put a scraper to our house and the project is ongoing. Nate is focusing mostly on the front of the house right now, doing wood repair and such. It's a BIG task, and he is doing SO GOOD, all on his own! I help out when I can, but I don't know how to do much when it comes to this sort of thing, so our wonderful handsome handyman is often out there on his own, gettin' it done! We love him SO much!!

here is a sketch of what we're hoping to do with the pain colors.

Upton Start-Up Day ... August

We had Upton Start-Up day today! This is the day when all the kids visit the school, get their school photos taken, get their schedules and their locker assignments ... get a chance to work their locker combinations and find their way through the hallways .... this is Rhylah's first year at Upton, but thankfully, she had Asher to show her the ropes! Most of her classes are in the same hallway, so it should be pretty easy for her to figure out! She's pretty excited! And Asher is going into 8th grade, which is a pretty big deal! It's a big year!

Rhylah got her combination on the first try!

The staff created this board full of interesting facts about themselves. FUN!

School Supplies ... August

We went out and bought school supplies today ... notebooks, paper, pens, highlighters, folders, backpacks, lunchbags ... whew!! The kids took these photos to send to Grandma and Papa to thank them for the back to school money they gave us. I can't believe it's almost time to go back already!!

Moonlight Ramble ... August

In mid-August, we went down to St. Louis to visit Papa and Grandma. While we were there, we went to the Moonlight Ramble in downtown ... a late night, 17 mile bike ride through St. Louis. Papa and Grandma went too! We rode from 10-midnight, past the Cardinal's Stadium, into Forest Park, the zoo, the Muny, the art Museum ... we had SUCH a good time!

The moon came out just as we were getting ready to take off. SO perfect!

Sailing ... August

We went out with our friends, Brian and Julie Dokter, on their sailboat the other evening. Believe it or not, I've never been on a boat in the water near St. Joseph. It was weird to see our town from that direction! The water was quite choppy, and I was a little nervous I might toss my cookies, but I didn't! And what a sunset!!! Blessed!!
