Fifth Grade Walk-Away

Asher had his 5th Grade Walk-Away ... a breakfast for the class, followed by a slide show of photos from the last 8 years, and an awards ceremony. Asher won the PE award from the retiring PE teacher (That's the photo with the HUG ... and an award from the music teacher for his choreography to Sing Sing Sing at the 5th Grade Music program last month! (It was EPIC! He had the entire audience whooping and hollering and clapping!!). He also got to stand up for participation in Quiz Bowl, Recycling Team, Book club, and Helping Hands. He was a busy guy! And we're super proud!

Last Day of School ... June

Last day of 5th, 3rd and 9th grades! Yay summer!

Odds'n Ends ... June

TOP: Lucca's new favorite game is "find the chihuahua in the flower garden". BOTTOM: Apparently, it is not enough to merely throw out the math workbook....Asher put it on the fireplace kindling pile, giving it plenty of time to think about its crimes before its eminent execution. I'd like it noted that the English notebook went upstairs to be "kept safe". That's my boy.

Abbie's Graduation Party ... June

Beach ... June

At Grand Mere today, we found a sandbar, where I could look at rocks. Roubi was in heaven. She followed me around, 20 feet into the lake, walking on the sandbar and dashing back and forth to the beach to tell Lucca all about it.

Asher's Talent Show ... May

We were SUPER proud of Asher this May when he performed a swing dance number for the school talent show at Brown Elementary. He did AWESOME! He had been practicing a lot in his room, with the door closed, but even I had NO IDEA he was so good! He stole the show, and people were clapping and going nuts. It was SO cool! We had recently watched Swing Kids, and the talent show was song and dance numbers, so this was perfect! He really likes the song Sing Sing Sing by Benny Goodman ... he even has it on his ipod when he jogs ... so that's the song he picked!

Backyard Makeover ... May

We did a little work on the back of our yard, which used to just be pretty much dead grass and a wood pile. I made a twisty little path, with flower gardens on both sides that get plenty of sunlight (which is hard to come by, in our yard!). We bought some pallets off a blueberry farmer in Covert for super cheap. Nathan and all the kiddos helped me tear them apart to make slats for my little path. It looks very sweet!

The Wizard and the Fairy ... May

Watched four episodes of "Once Upon A Time" on Netflix, with the kiddos, and they have launched into a full-fledged "phase." They each picked out fairy tale anthologies at the library, have been writing their own fairy tales on the computer, and today, I caught a fairy and a wizard (Asher) in my garden. The wizard fled, for fear of getting "facebooked", but the fairy posed prettily.
